Our Land

From the plump barley that grows in the surrounding lush fields of east Cork, to the crystal clear water of the Dungourney river which flows through the distillery, our land is what makes our whiskey the finest in the world.

Our Climate

The Sunny South East

Our distillery is a little east of Cork city in a region that is affectionately known as Ireland's 'Sunny South East'. As a result, we are blessed with one of the mildest climates in Ireland which is ideal for every aspect of whiskey making from the barely to the ageing process.

Our Barley

Malted and Unmalted

Midleton is one of the only distilleries in the world to use both malted and unmalted barley, the latter has been a main component of traditional Irish whiskey since the 1800s. It is this unmalted barley that imparts a silky mouthfeel, as well as the intriguing spiciness that sets our whiskey apart from other whiskey styles.

Our Water

Pure Irish Water

Whiskey comes from the word uisce beatha, which means 'water of life' in Gaelic .You couldn't think of a better place to put a distillery. The Midleton Distillery is served by the crystal clear waters of the Dungourney River flowing right through its grounds. And below us we have a cavern with a supply of water at a constant 11 degrees Celsius, ideal for cooling our distillery equipment.

One Distillery

Our Home

Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is unique to Ireland in general and to The Midleton Distillery, County Cork, in particular. It is here that all the elements come together to make the world's finest whiskeys, and have been doing so for over 200 years – and counting.

Really unusual and surprising but in brilliant and inexplicable ways."
