Burdening the responsibility of safeguarding the signature tastes of Single Pot Still Whiskey, Master Blender Billy Leighton is frequently found marrying a dizzying array of exquisite whiskeys. The ultimate dream job some would say.

Head of Distillation

A dynamic Master Distiller, Brian is responsible for producing all distillates at Midleton. Brian oversees the production process from brewing to distillation, and also holds the enviable position of tasting all whiskeys on a daily basis, to ensure the correct flavours and that unique pot still spiciness are present.

Head of whiskey science

Dave's early career began on the enviable "taste panel" in the Midleton Distillery. Today Dave is responsible for all new whiskey development and innovation. Working closely with the other Masters, Dave explores the intricacies of whiskey science to arrive at new and interesting whiskeys for the world to enjoy.

Kevin O'Gorman

Head of Maturation

The responsibilities of Master of Maturation Kevin O'Gorman include cask procurement, vatting, filling, emptying, warehousing and transport – to name but a few. Maturation takes a long time, but Kevin is happy to wait for perfection.

Ger Buckley

Master Cooper

Following in the old-world craftsmanship of coopering, Ger is in charge of repairing any damage or imperfections found on our precious casks. He ensures each one is watertight for ageing. Although the angels still sneak their share.

Irish Whiskey Academy Tutor

We are nothing without our heritage and at The Irish Whiskey Academy Ciarán hosts courses focused on the production and heritage of Irish Whiskey produced here. Since opening its doors in February 2013, the Irish Whiskey Academy has become the dedicated whiskey institute of Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard.

Archivist

They say that those who ignore history repeat it. Well, Carol might disagree vehemently. As our on-site archivist she is key to keeping us abreast of our rich history and thereby ensuring we never deviate from what it is that makes us the protectors of Single Pot Still.
